ABOUT THE CENTRE

The Human-Environmental Systems Research Centre is an independent organizational unit at the Faculty of Geography and Geology of the Jagiellonian University. The center was established on November 1, 2022 in accordance with the implementation plan of the "Building Excellence in research of human-environmental systems with geospatial and Earth observation technologies" (HES-GEO) project, which assumed the establishment of a center of excellence in the field of research on human-environmental system.

The task of the Centre is comprehensive research, development and educational activity on spatial relations in human-environmental system, carried out through:

initiating and coordinating interdisciplinary research,

• conducting work on the dissemination of knowledge and skills in the field of geographic information science and technology in scientific research and in the management of socio-economic space,

• establishing and developing cooperation with public administration units and enterprises in the field of expert activities,

training activities,

creating and proposing changes in educational curricula.
